Change of venue

James has been moved out of Pediatric ICU into Pediatric Intermediate Care, and his new Room No. is 964.  James's surgeon, Dr. Brock, came in around 6:15 and said he thought James was doing great. In fact, he said that James is doing better than many other of his scoliosis patients who had shorter surgeries.   One thing he said that has caused us concern is that he doesn't feel James' current wheelchair will work for his new body.  We are in the process of scrambling to get the parts needed to adjust James' chair and have it available asap (maybe by the end of next week).  He also said James could be lifted into a comfortable regular chair tomorrow but his head can not come forward or look down.  This will be very challenging.  James had a quiet evening in this new room - Room #964.

Prayer Requests:

James GI track status is still unknown.  James needs to start passing gas before he can receive nourishment which, in turn, will show us how the GI track is doing.

That the nurses will be able to move James into a sitting position without any problem.

Wheelchair parts and resolution of that situation quickly;

A good night's rest for James and Renee

Comfort for James and peace (as opposed to restlessness)

Thanks again for all the prayers, help and messages of encouragement.

  1. Great news that he's out of ICU and doing so well! Hopefully, your usual "chair tech" will be able to adjust James' chair to meet his new needs. That was the case for Trevor -- hospital said it couldn't be done, but it could, and he still has the same chair a year later. Hoping James continues to have a smooth recovery!
